Concussions
Concussions are a common head injury that can range from mild to life-altering. Do you know how to determine if a bump on the head might be a concussion? Do you know safe protocol for treating a concussion? Frank Batcha, MD, family medicine, will give practical information on prevention, implications, and treatment, and introduce information on the IMPACT concussion testing program.

Knee Injuries Revisited
Tony Buoncristiani, MD, orthopedic surgeon, will review the relevant knee anatomy and discuss various knee injuries focusing on injury prevention. A portion will be dedicated to pediatric knee injuries, which have recently been increasing.

Whole Birth Prenatal Yoga and Support Class
This class brings together elements of a traditional yoga class: stretching, strengthening, balancing, mindful awareness, and deep relaxation, with informative and supportive group discussions. All stages of pregnancy welcome. No yoga experience necessary. Cost: $96 for eight-class series or $15 drop-in. Financial assistance available.

Depression Screening
The National Depression Screening program provides increased awareness of the signs and symptoms of depression and mental health resources in the community. If you think you may be suffering from depression, bi-polar disorder, anxiety, or post-raumatic stress, call for a confidential, free, one-hour screening with a licensed mental health counselor. We can screen adults and older adolescents. Appointment required, available in Spanish or English.

AED Heartsaver CPR
Learn how to use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in addition to the American Heart Association course on recognizing and responding to emergency situations involving infants, children, and adults. Good for beginners and those who need to renew their Heartsaver Certification. Cost: $50. Pre-registration required, call 727-8487. Please, no walk-ins.

Look Good, Feel Better
Through a generous partnership with the American Cancer Society, we have wigs, scarves, hats and make-up available for people who have had a diagnosis of cancer. Professionally trained staff will work one-on-one or with a group to create a look that feels good! Please call 727-8733 for more information.

Yoga for Cancer Patients
St. Luke’s Integrative Therapies program is partnering with the Hailey Yoga Center and instructor Kristin Biggins, OT, RYT to offer this new series. Classes are held at the Hailey Yoga Center. Please call for more detailed information.

Healing Touch Outpatient Clinic
Individual Healing Touch treatments are now available on an outpatient basis, for a reasonable fee.

Medical Nutrition Therapy Counseling
Individual appointments with a dietitian are available to community members for a variety of nutrition topics. These include nutrition as it relates to disease management, prevention, and wellness.

Lifestyle and Weight Management Programs
These interactive classes are offered with a combination of individual and group sessions, led by a dietitian and a team of health care professionals.

Diabetes Self-Management Training Program
Classes are offered to the community through our American Diabetes Association-recognized program, and are taught by a nurse and dietitian team at St. Luke’s Hailey Clinic.

Free Car Seat Safety Checks
Our certified child passenger safety technician can help you install your car seat before your baby is born, fit an older child to his or her seat, teach you proper installation, and check for recalls. Call 727-8776 for more information.

BCTAC is the high school group of St. Luke’s YAK! It's a fun, hardworking youth action council committed to improving the community by involving young people in community service, creating programs and services to address youth needs, and building Developmental Assets. We can also advise students pursuing the Congressional Award.

Blaine County Teen Advisory Council II (BCTAC II)
BCTAC II is the middle school group of St. Luke's YAK!, providing a variety of programs to encourage youth involvement in the community and build Developmental Assets. This winter, BCTAC II kicks off a new after-school program at the Community Campus, in partnership with Wood River Middle School and Blaine County Recreation District.

“Be the Change” Diversity Dramatist Troupe
This group of Wood River High School students is professionally trained to use theatre as a way to discuss diversity issues in our community. Let us know if your organization or business is interested in diversity training and having our troupe perform.

Healthy Choices Series: “Today Affects Tomorrow”
Information presented by medical professionals from our community to help teens make good choices to be healthy and successful in their future. Topics include drug use, sexual activity, alcohol, and healthy relationships. Presentations are held at local high schools.

Rockheads Climbing Club
In partnership with the Wood River Community YMCA, middle school students learn the
basics of rock climbing—such as movement, knots, belay techniques, and stretching— while enjoying time with their friends. Climbing is a healthy and safe activity that promotes strength, focus, and flexibility in youth. Each session runs for eight consecutive weeks.

Y2Y! Nights
Each Thursday, middle and high school youth have the opportunity to get out of the house and be active with their friends. All students are welcome to participate, and the program is free. YMCA membership is not required.

Childbirth Education

Childbirth Preparation
A six-week series promoting a healthy, safe, and educated birth.  

Home Study or Customized Childbirth Preparation
“Class in a basket” childbirth education materials for women who are either high risk or on bed rest and unable to attend regular childbirth preparation classes. Additional customized instruction may be available upon request.

Childbirth Refresher
Offered to parents who have previously taken a childbirth preparation course. Review of elaxation techniques, updated information, and sibling preparation. Includes a tour of the Labor and Delivery suites.

Breastfeeding Successfully
A 1½ hour prenatal breastfeeding education class designed to help start your breastfeeding experience with confidence and success.

New Moms' Group
Provides newborn and breastfeeding support and an opportunity to ask questions and learn the basics of caring for a new baby. The presence of professionals, as well as other new parents, makes this group a comfortable and valuable experience. Bring your baby and your lunch, if you wish.
