The mission of St. Luke's Magic Valley Health Foundation is to facilitate cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of charitable gifts given to support the medical center and the health care of the community.

The Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit, charitable corporation with its own principle fund. Its vision of enhancing the Magic Valley community's health care through philanthropy is carried out through its broad fundraising operations. Through the generosity of donors who are able and willing to give, the Foundation has been helping enhance health care in the Magic Valley since 1978.

St. Luke's Magic Valley Health Foundation is governed by a 31-member volunteer board of directors comprised of dedicated community leaders who support St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center and encourage giving to local health care services. The Foundation board manages more than 60 funds to help meet local health care needs, and has been instrumental in assisting with the Magic Valley's present high level of health care availability.

Charitable gifts to the Foundation help purchase medical equipment, support preventive and wellness programs for all ages, provide support for patients needs, send hospital staff to workshops to improve their caregiving skills, provide scholarships to nursing students who will stay to work in the Magic Valley, and help fund capital improvement projects. For example, the Foundation donated $187,780 to purchase the medical center's first digital cardiac ultrasound system, which improved diagnoses of both adult and newborn heart patients. In all, the Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in support of health care over the past 20 years, but new needs emerge every year.

How You Can Help

People donate to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Health Foundation for a variety of reasons. Your donation strengthens the ability of St. Luke’s to provide high quality health care for all residents of  the Magic Valley and northern Nevada, today and tomorrow.

The Foundation accepts both cash and planned gifts from community minded organizations and individuals who wish to help meet our local health care needs. There are many ways you can help bring healing to St. Luke's patients and make a measurable difference in the lives of Magic Valley residents.

• Make an unrestricted gift to benefit the most urgent area of need or designate the service or program you would like to help.

• Give cash, securities, property, or life insurance to enhance the health care services available to you and your family, while providing a possible reduction in your income and estate taxes.

• Choose your memorial gift as a lasting tribute to a departed loved one. Notice of your gift will be sent to the family without the amount mentioned.

• Donate a gift in honor of another's birthday, wedding, or anniversary, or as a promotional gift.

• Designate an estate gift to help ensure that quality community health care will continue to be available in the future.

• Consider a planned gift in support of the new hospital.

Donor Tax Advantage

The Internal Revenue Service allows deductions to qualifying donors of charitable gifts. These charitable contributions and the methods by which they are made to St. Luke's Magic Valley Health Foundation should be discussed with your tax or legal advisor.
